There are quite a few issues in this article that I could rip to shreads but I am going to stick to the title. So Mexican President, Felipe Calderon, thinks it is OUR fault that the drug traffiking from Mexico is so bad and we must do more to "curb" American drug appetites. While it may be true that there is an appetite for drugs in the U.S., it does not make it okay for Mexico to pass the blame of immigration and drug problems coming from their country, to the U.S. That makes no sense.
Basically what Calderon is saying is, "yeah, I know my people are invading and trying to take over your country and yeah I know they are ILLEGALLY smuggling drugs into your country while in the process of ILLEGALLY emmigrating, but that really isn't my problem. U.S.A., you need to do more to stop it within your country." So Bush says "ok, we will do that. We are going to start building a fence." Calderon says (in his little Mexican accent) "NO!...you cannot do that to our country. You cannot do what you want with your own land! What makes you think you can do that." What in the hell is Calderon thinking!?!?! What a conceeded moron.
And why does Bush want to improve "frayed ties over immigration and drug trafficking and the Iraq war", with Mexico? You know what...to hell with them. And why do they have a say in the Iraq war. Have they been attacked by terrorists lately??? Didn't think so.
Calderon is also against the fence idea. Why? He says we need to do more to curb the "drug appetite" in America, well, that is what we are doing. How do you stop an alcoholic from being an alcoholic??? Take away the alcohol....remove the source. That is one purpose of the fence...to help the drug trafficking problem go away. Yet Calderon compains that it is similar to the Berlin Wall. Obviously Calderon didn't take any history classes while attending Harvard because then he would have known that the Berlin Wall divided a country. NOT TWO COMPLETELY UNRELATED COUNTRIES.
Ok, here is the key point Calderon is making but not saying. When the Berlin Wall was torn down, what did it do...it reunified a country (Germany). It did not reunify two seperate, always have been seperate, culturally different nations. Now, the way I take that is he believes we should be one country or he doesn't know what the Berlin Wall was. Somebody again, please tell me why we are accomodating this fool and his country?
One more thing. If you go about half way down the article, you will see "It is questionable whether the full 700-mile fence will be built. A bill authorizing the fence did not come with any new funding, and the $1.2 billion that Congress previously approved is not enough. A 14-mile stretch under construction in the San Diego area is estimated to cost $126.5 million." Why is this fence going to cost $126.5 million dollars for a 14-mile stretch. I really find it hard to believe that this fence is going to cost $1,750 a foot. That seems a little ridiculous. But hey, the government is not paying for it so nobody there cares. Don't get me wrong, I am for the fence but why don't we contract it out and save a little dough. I'm sure we can get it done for cheaper.
Hey!!! I have the perfect idea! This is what we do. We offer to pay a bunch of mexicans to build the fence for us (since they are cheap labor and work fast). They build it from the U.S. side and when it's done, we tell them to go to the other side to make sure it looks ok. When the go through the gates...we lock it behind them! Oh, that would be funny...it makes me laugh just to think about it.
In all seriousness, what we really need is some politicians with some guts to stand up for desires of the people who make up the heart and soul of this great country.

nicely said sir... nicely said!
You make me laugh with your plan to lock all the illegal mexicans out. However... this would not be a good blogspot without a little critism so here you go: Use spellcheck! You should know that it is not only the content, it is the presentation as well. I am not saying "learn how to spell", all I am saying is give spellcheck a chance.
(For example: I had to look up "mis-spell" in the dictionary.)
Hear, hear Kelli! As a former english major I have to agree with the wonders of spell-check. Though I'll warn you sometimes it's wrong. Oh and my personal favorite part was the "in his little mexican voice". That's fabulous! I could really hear that in my (crazy) mind. I'm all for a fence - good point about the Berlin Wall, I'm not sure I would have made that connection though I'm not sure I should admit that here...LOL! (ps I should point out that Kelli mis-spelled criticism)
It's ok Kelli, personally I kind of like "CRITISM".
Doesn't take up much space, and is easier to say. It's kind of like...........ebonics for rednecks. Maybe next time you could use "Webster's",not "Bubba's dictionary.
I love mexicans...........Well at least they drive better than Koreans!
Kelli - Wut yu meen, yu think mi spelin is not gud...well dat just hurtz mi feelins.
Usually, I do use spell check. I will copy that into word and do it there. This blog program does not have the greatest spell check program.
Kim - think outside the box...make the connection. Come on, I know liberal arts majors, especially english and lit majors, are good at that.
Roadbuzzard - who in the H-E-double hockey stick are you! Do I know you?!?!?
And "roadbuzzard"...you made your comment sound like it came from me. Just to clear this up with everybody...IT DID NOT!
road buzzard you are gay. you are mexican.
oh and the fence thing is good and kim, i agree.. the "in his little mexican voice" was my favorite part too!
i have a problem with boxes...
Kim - you have a problem with boxes??? What exactly does that mean???
Ok All, I have had about enough of the Mexican invasion too. However, I have a much larger problem with the fact that they come over here, get a job with a local company and then steal their trade secrets and start their own businesses. Then they send the money back to Mexico, put it into investments and make a fortune, over there. Please keep in mind that that this would not bother me as badly as it does if the money stayed in our Country to help our economy in which they so want to be a part of. I understand capitalism and I am very much an advocate for it. I went to the Nascar race this past weekend and had extensive conversations with many small business owners. ALL OF THEM stated this same thing. We cannot get laborers with out them being Mexican, so what do we do, we hire them and then our businesses are at risk or we don't and the growth of our businesses suffer. BUSH, PLEASE GROW SOME MAN PARTS AND FIX THIS PROBLEM, YOU CAN DO IT MAN!!!! If you do than maybe people in this country will actually go back to work. Also, I can put that fence up much cheaper. And I will do What Bruce said and use Mexicans, pay them well and then send them back over the fence, lol. Also, Road buzzard, grow some man parts too and identify your self. You sound like a bed wetter and yes, if you want to call us Red Necks, feel free. Let's sit down and have a battle of wits and see who wins. At least red necks care about their country and the language spoken in it and we are not a bunch of bed wetters, probably like your self. I'll bet you want Hillary as the next president. Road Buzzard, always remember, the Pirates are out there and you never know when they will find you. We are quiet, but we are there, just waiting for people like you. I would hate to see you have to walk the plank. OH BTW, Bruce, Here is one for you to pick apart. This should infuriate you as well. Paste the link and enjoy, lol.

While that source can be somewhat debated...their statistics for this are true. I have seen that before in a newspaper. Here is the problem, the "day labor" people ARE doing the types of jobs that American's DON'T want to do or want to be paid more for. This will have to be a new post.
I never said I was perfect. Example: I only came in second place in the 5th grade spelling bee. Maybe it was CRITICISM that I mis-spelled. Hmm...
