How the Mexican Invasion relates to our school systems...

This is continued from my response to "michael's" comment about the Mexican Invasion.

...While that source can be somewhat debated...their statistics for this are true. I have seen that before in a newspaper. Here is the problem, the "day labor" people ARE doing the types of jobs that Americans DON'T want to do or want to be paid more for.

This is why we need to come up with a solution to let people work here BUT also contribute to the society like every U.S. working citizen does. The fact is, we do need them BECAUSE AMERICAN WON'T DO IT for whatever the reason may be...but hey, like you always hear...somebody has got to do it.

This is another problem stemming from our wonderful public school system. There is not enough interest in becoming a "fence builder" or a "fruit picker" or whatever. You don't ever see career day at high school filled with presentations on how they want to become a fence builder or a home construction worker. The schools put all the focus on white collar jobs. There is not enough technical education in our schools. Not everybody is the type of person for a "white collar" job. I am going to say this and it would be a shock to our school systems and some politicians, maybe even some southern baptists (oooooooh...low blow)...but NOT EVERY BODY IS THE SAME. That is the beauty of this country...we do not have to be. We live in a free capitalist nation that requires everybody to be different. This goes back to the whole balance in society discussion I had. (You know, when I was talking about how not all 32 football teams in the NFL can have a winning record at the end of the year...) We need people who can build fences, install sheet rock, pick vegetables in a field, and then we also need people who can tell the fence builders what to do or where to put the fence (managers, contractors), how to stay legal (lawyers), how to grow their business (accountants), sew their fingers back on if they cut it off (doctors)...there is NO shame in ANY job. There is NO shame in putting food on the table for your family as long as you are doing it in a legal, moral way. The schools almost make it seem like the "fence builders" and the "vegetable pickers" type of jobs are like what you do if you fail in your real goal in life. That should not be and is not the case. Again, people are different. Everybody is good as something different than the next person.

What I am trying to say is that our schools don't initiate any interest in these types of fields...they should. IF they are going to initiate interest in some types of jobs, they should for all types of jobs.

Why would the school systems try to make those jobs appealing to kids? It seems to me that if you plan on having a family and not cramming all of them in a one room apartment then you should focus on a white collar job. It is a tough situation. The mexicans are taking these jobs but I know I don't want them, do you? Companies know that they can get a "day-laborer" to do this job for less pay. Where does that leave the average blue collar american worker? Back in school, I guess...

Michael said...

Ok Kelli, I know alot of people and so do you that have always made good money in the Blue Collar World and many families have done quite well there too. Having been in a white collar world for many years of my life, I now appreciate the Blue collar world equally, especially in the business that I am now in. Remember, we need the Blue collar workers as much as we need the white ones.

kim said...

Aaaah, so now it's blue vs. white instead of black vs. white? Hah! Anyway, sure - a lot of people have made a LOT of money with a blue collar job. So why are kids not interested in them? Because they are too much WORK! It's a lot easier to sit on your ass in front of a computer than it is to put your own sweat and blood into actually EARNING your money. And believe me, I'm one of those that sits on my ass all day, not that I expect to do that forever. But anyway, kids are generally lazy these days - it's the video game age - and they don't understand the value of playing outside and making an honest living doing the things that are not necessarily glamorous but that are the backbone of this country. I think the parents are as much to blame as the schools in this situation.

Kim, The kids are sitting in front of the TV because kids are on drugs, Ridlin and other drugs so that the parents don't have to deal with kids normal everyday problems like our parents and their parents did. It is easier to give them a pill then to guide them in the right direction. Teachers also like to have the kids that are druged, it makes their life a lot easier also. The interested parents are now, more then ever, starting to home school so that they do learn things, the right things. I am amazed how much to history has changed since I was in school. I wonder why that is??? More to come later.

Tus hijos son gordos, tontos, y sanganos. Aprendieron a ser asi de ti. Para de culpar a todo el mundo.

kim said...

AHHHHHHHHHH Roadbuzzard, Your in trouble now, that is not nice. I would like you to know that I am Megan's mother's, mother. I resent that comment. I believe that Megan can also read Spanish.

Roadbuzzard, y si soy su hermana qué??. Sería mejor que parir a alguien quien pretende hacer o decir cosas que otros hacen o dicen. Realmente nos estamos saliendo de los temas verdaderos. Regresemos a la política.
Her sister?? Funny!!

Bruce said...

Why would they make them appealing??? Because every single person is different and likes to do different things. Some people act like it's wierd if someone says they WANT to do a job where physical labor is the majority of the work. It's not wierd...it's what they want to do.

Anonymous said...

yeah its because lazy people find it astonishing that hard working people actually like to work...

kim said...

So it still comes down to the fact that each person has a particular talent or skill - whatever that may be. For one it may be woodworking, for another maybe landscaping...the key is to find out at a young age what your skill is and develop it the best you can in order to be successful. Easier said than done, that's true...especially when there is a stigma against manual labor type jobs for the average WHITE American. Just like college is not right for everyone, such is the case with the job market. Too bad our kids aren't tought early (for the most part) to be proud of their particular skills instead of trying to direct them toward something that might not be as personally fulfilling but might be more "socially acceptable". Schools definitely should focus more on making that difference clear to children at an early age. I'm not sure the majority of people truly LIKE to work, but I'm certain that there is a much higher level of satisfaction when you spend your day doing something that best suits your personality / niche. For example, I have struggled financially for years (still am) and bounced around many "meaningless" jobs in order to pay the bills, but now that I have a career that I enjoy in an industry that I love, my life seems much fuller - even though I'm not making as much money as I'd like to. I believe that the reward will come eventually if you stay true to yourself and your talents and/or skills. Try and turn what you ENJOY doing into a career path. The school system would like us to believe that they encourage children to follow their dreams, but we all know that when it comes down to it, the outlook and perspective from which most schools teach focus more on how to be "successful" in the classic white American-white-collar-get-rich sort of way.

Bruce said...

Well said, very well said. You are exactly right Kim.

I truly believe that if you are doing something you enjoy, you are not really working, and THAT is success. I also believe financial reward for success will come to those people as well. Notice I didn’t say financial success will come because the success has already come in the form of happiness with your career path. The financial benefit is a reward earned for that success. In todays' society, too many people sell themselves out for a better financial benefit of a career. That relates back to what Kim said about the whole "socially acceptable" thing in the schools.

Not that I don’t appreciate good and well timed insults, I do. However, this time you missed the point. The topic was “How the Mexican invasion relates to our school systems”. My comment “Your children are fat, dumb, and lazy. They learned it from you, so stop blaming everyone else” was dead on the mark. It was posted in Spanish to illustrate the point as to why the invasion occurred in the first place. Like it or not, they are here because there was and will continue to be a market for them. Why is that? Not enough Americans to fill the jobs? Don’t think so. Jobs don’t pay enough money? Nope.
Jobs Americans just don’t want to do? Bingo. Why is that? Partly because Americans have become “fat, dumb and lazy. Where did they learn it? From their parents.
How many kids do you know that actually have chores? And I don’t mean getting the mail, or feeding the cat. Real daily chores. How many kids do you know get weekly allowances for doing nothing? How many kids buy their own cars these days? And when they wreck it, what happens? How many fathers actually build a deck, a shed, paint their house, do landscaping, remodel etc. and not only make their children work, but teach them the skills to do the work? How many mothers or fathers actually cook these days? Everything is from a bag or a box is in the freezer and is ready in minutes.
If you have any of these skills, have you passed them on? Or does the lawn service do the yard work? The mini maid service clean the house? The handyman service fix things for you? Jiffe lube change the oil in your car? McDonalds do your cooking? As for the public schools, it just isn’t their job. You want to go into the “Trades” you got no business in the public school system. That’s what Vocational schools are for.
So like it or not, as always……….I’m right.
The posting was not meant as a direct insult to any of you, but I guess you aren’t smart enough to figure that out. Ahhhhhhhhhhh that felt good! So you see Megan……….. you’re the retard. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh that felt good too!
Ps. I still love you.

OMG, I am going to hate myself for this. Roadbuzzard, aside any insults, I have always been proud of the fact that I can give credit where credit is due. I have to give it to you on this one. Your posting is very well done and well written. I had chores and responsibilities when I was young and I believe that is an essential part of building an individual’s character. I was taught the basics of keeping the yard, the car the house and other duties up and I am very grateful for it. I am proud that I can totally take care of myself. As for this Family, most, if not all of us have been taught this stuff. The majority of Parents these days are at fault for not bringing their kids up with the values of a job well done or being proud of an accomplishment. They would rather shove a video game in a kids face and call the lawn, maid or whatever service that takes care of them than actually going out and making the kids come with you to help and learn. I remember being completely flabbergasted when I discovered that one of my former roommates did not even know how to turn on a vacuum cleaner. I still agree with Kim on the public schools not at least teaching the kids that there are options. If you are a mediocre student, or simply just not that smart, lol, than there are alternative schools (vocational, etc) that can teach you a trade that will most likely support you in life. This also falls more on the parents for not paying enough attention or to even care anymore because they believe it is the schools job to do this. So, whose job is it? I also think that Kim is right with being happy with what you are doing, even if it pays less. My only wish for most Married adults today is that if your not going to have time for the kids, than don’t have them. It is pretty much as simple as that. Hopefully you can impress me again, lol. I look forward to it.

Ps. You are still REDNECKS!
Pss. Dori,
The verb parir is mostly used when speaking of animal birth. I’m fairly sure that’s not what you meant. Or maybe it was?????? Either way it was funny.

Roadbuzzard, Birth is correct, you have to take it any way that you would like.

OK EVERYONE. THIS IS GOING TO BE LONG BUT OH MY GOSH, THIS IS JUST THE WAY IT IS. I ALWAYS DID LIKE CHARLIE DANIELS BUT I TELL YOU WHAT, HE HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD AND IS SO CORRECT. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS. HE TOOK TIME TO WRITE THIS SO PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES OF YOUR TIME TO READ IT.

HATS OFF TO CHARLIE DANIELS....AT LEAST HE HAS THE COURAGE TO SPEAK HIS MIND!!!

I don't know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I
think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally,
made a huge public relations mistake with their recent
demonstrations.
I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the
United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place.
But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don't care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.
I don't need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don't have any-thing against Mexicans! I just have something against Criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don't believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it's
tanta-mount to saying, "I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there's nothing you can do about it." It's an "in your face" action and speaking just for me, I don't like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn't be happening. Where are you, you bunch of lily livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for Defenders of The Constitution? Have you been drinking the water out of the Potomac again? And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be so pork laden and watered down that it won't mean anything anyway Besides, what good is
another law going to do when you won't enforce the ones on the books now?
And what ever happened to the polls, guys? I thought you folks Were the quintessential finger wetters. Well you sure ain't paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty percent of Americans want some thing done about this mess, and mess it is and getting bigger everyday.
This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy. Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can't happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of Jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets? If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and
refuse to do something meaningful it means that you care nothing for the kind of country your children and grand-children will inherit. But I guess that doesn't matter as long as you get re-elected. Shame on you.
One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you. Well I've been pounded by the media before and I'm still rockin' and rollin' and when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not. And the truth is that the gutless, gonadless, milksop politicians are just about to sell out the United States of America because they don't have the
intestinal fortitude to stand up to face reality. And reality is that we would never allow any other group of people to have
12 million illegal in this country and turn around and say, "Oh it's ok, ya'll can stay here if you'll just allow us to slap your wrist." And I know that some of you who read this column are saying "Well what's wrong with that?" I'll tell you what's wrong with it. These people could be from Mars as far as we know. We don't know who they are, where they are or what
they're up to and the way the Congress is going we're not going to. Does this make sense? Labor force you say? We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well? If these people were from Haiti would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them or if they were from Somalia or Afghanistan? I think not. All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed the border just to try to better their life. They don't show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did. They don't tell you about the living conditions of the Mexican illegal some fat cat hired to pick his crop. I want to make two predictions.

No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our streets while the wimps in Washington drag their toes in the dirt and try to figure how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre.
No 2: Somebody is going to cross that border with some kind of
weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side of the issue.
I don't know about you but I would love to see just one major
politician stand up and say, "I don't care who I make mad and I don't care how many votes I lose, this is a desperate situation and I'm going to lead the fight to get it Straightened out." I don't blame anybody for wanting to come to America , but if you don't respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others? And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes Please get that other one out of my face. God Bless America, Charlie Daniels

I'm sorry, but after hearing they want to sing OUR National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough!
Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Japanese, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German, Portuguese, Greek, French, or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation - not even close. Sorry if this offends anyone, but this is
MY COUNTRY IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY, SPEAK UP!
I am not against immigration - just come through like everyone else Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job;
pay your taxes; live by the rules; and LEARN THE LANGUAGE
as all other immigrants have in the past and GOD BLESS AMERICA! PART OF THE PROBLEM Think about this:
If you don't want to tell others about this for fear of offending someone then YOUR PART OF THE PROBLEM!

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by people from other countries who came to live in America because it is the
Country of Choice? Think about it! All we have to say is, when will Someone do something about MY RIGHTS? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems no one has a problem with that. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Greek, Polish, Italian, French, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women - on Christian principles - founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. It is Time for America to Speak up

You people should to get to the point and stop making your comments into essays!
Bruce-I guess to me a job (blue or white) is not appealing if there is a constant financial struggle no matter how much I love it or how good I am at it. I assume I am not alone in that thought. If other people want those jobs-great, I don't think that is weird. God bless'em.

Anonymous said...

Jose's dictionary? good one.

Bruce said...

Ummm??? I don't think it is weird either. I never said that.

...and Charlie Daniels NAILED that one!!!

But again, the problem is nobody is willing to do anything more than talk.
